 The price of a quality diatonic harmonica is between 25€ at the entry level and 60€ for the best models. chromatic harmonica costs more, with prices starting at around $90 and going as high as $250.

The harmonica is a wind musical instrument , of the woodwind family , with free reeds , operating on the same principle as the accordion  : metal reeds (lamellae) of different lengths, produce the notes by vibrating with the passage of the ' air , blown by the mouth or sucked, this configuration being infrequent for a wind instrument.

With a normal range of three octaves , it comes in three main families:

  • the simple diatonic harmonica;
  • the double diatonic harmonica (also called tremolo);
  • the chromatic harmonica.

The harmonica player is the harmonica player.


Types of harmonica 

The types are multiple according to their choice of tuning, the materials of manufacture and their size including five main families:

  • Single-blade diatonic (with multiple tuning choices: Richter, semi-diminished,  etc. );
  • Diatonic tremolos or double blades (tuned to the octave);
  • Chromatics;
  • Chords or polyphonias, accompaniment harmonicas for chords;
  • Chromatic bass only when blowing.
