Google has made fundamental changes in an effort to project itself as a privacy-respecting company. Last month, Google added key controls that allow you to change how Google stores your data. Unlike the previous one, you can now automatically delete your web activity and location history from your Google account. For new accounts, automatic deletion is enabled by default, but for existing Google accounts, you must enable the option manually. That's why we bring you this short tutorial on automatically deleting web and location history on Google. With that in mind, let's get to the steps without further ado.

Automatic deletion of web history and Google locations

1. First, open Google Activity Controls page. If you're not signed in, sign in to your Google Account.

2. Here, click on “  Automatic deletion (disabled)”.

3. Now you can choose the option to automatically delete your Google activity after 3 or 18 months . After that, click “Next”.

4. On the next page, click "Confirm" to make a permanent change.

5. If you don't want Google to track and keep track of your activity across all of its services, then turn off the toggle for "Web & App Activity".

6. Similarly, scroll down and turn off the toggle for "Location History" and "YouTube History". This way you permanently stop Google from keeping your location history, YouTube and web activity. Keep in mind that this also means your Google experience will become less personalized.

Take control of your data on Google

This is how you can set up automatic deletion of location history and web activity on Google. For a long time, Google has been accused of harvesting too much personal data, so these new controls are a welcome change. Even if you are at the heart of the Google ecosystem, I would strongly recommend that you automatically delete location history and web activity after 18 months. Anyway, it all comes from us. If you found the article helpful, comment below and let us know. Also, if you want to completely get rid of Google from your digital life, you can follow our detailed tutorial.
